Campus Borlänge |
Here's some information you may find useful:
International office
This is the
most important place at the university for international students. Here you can deal with all documents (learning agreement,
confirmation of stay, etc.) and ask questions about the things that concern you
and are connected with your stay here.
But there
is no need to go there in person every single time, you can use the general or
coordinators emails, which can be found here.
Remember that International Office is not open 24/7, always check the working schedule for forthcoming week (information on whiteboard next to the I.O. door) or make an appointment by email.
Reception
At Borlänge
Campus there is a reception located on the left side when using main entrance.
Here you can collect Key-Card on the Welcome Day, ask things and buy cool university stuff. Who doesn’t want to have a university
t-shirt?
t-shirt?
Library
University
library offers both books in electronic and traditional form. Basically, the
guarantee period of loan is 14 days but if no one requests the book you can
hold it for 28 days, if the book loan is overdue you are going to be charged
for every extra day.
It is
possibility to request books from other libraries, like for example Campus
Falun library. There is an online catalogue so it is easy to check if the book is available and to request it. All you need
to do that is your login and password (the same which you are using to log on MyPages, Fronter and DU email).
To borrow
book bring to the library your key-card, the one which are given to every
student during the welcome day. When you request a book which is on hold by
somebody else, you will receive an email when it’s ready to collect. There is
also possibility to order the book to your home address.
Library has
reading room where you can find ‘library use only’ books. In case of any
problems you can always ask for assistance at the information point situated
just behind the library door. They are all very nice and helpful. If you need
some more information, here is the library page: http://www.du.se/en/Biblioteket/

Printing/copying/scanning
Need to
print, scan or copy? There are few all-in-one machines around the campus area. To scan or copy you need to find a printer (they are located on both floors and
easy to see), log in and you can start.
For printing you will need to go to the university computer lab and send the
request to the printer, just like you do it normally at home. Make sure you
check the settings! After you can go to
one of the universities printers, log in, choose the documents you want to print
and voila!
Printing and copying is not free of charge at the university, but don’t worry
there is no need to collect coins, money will be taken from your printing
account, on which at the beginning you have 60SEK, called ‘free printouts’.
You
can check the balance on My Pages -> My Account -> Print Accounting.
Places to eat and cafeteria |
How to get to the campus?
University is about 10-15min walk from the main railway station Borlänge Resecentrum. Just pass through Kupolen shopping center and you will see it, the way is really simple. You can also try with the local bus nr 253 from stop Borlänge Resecentrum to Studieplan Borlänge. The address is: Röda vägen 3, Borlänge.
Eating
Unfortunately, Campus Borlänge does not have a student canteen. But don’t worry there is a small cafeteria and snacks automats. University ensured common fridges in the corner where you can leave your home-prepared food and a lot of tables to take a sit and have a break.
Student Union
At Dalarna
University you can find Student Union (Dalarnas studentkår) which is built from
two parts mainly: study social part (introduction for new students, discounts,
entertainment, accommodation issues, etc.) and the one which deals with
educational quality at university. To have full “access” to their services you
will need to become a member. To have the discounts you can
buy a Student Union Card at their office, which with some additional fee could
also include entertainment pass. Student Union is sometimes organizing
interesting cruises, like Lapland Winter Tour or to Riga.
What's happening?
At Dalarna
University there are some student activities which may be found interesting. Starting
with International Diversity and Language Day where everyone has a chance to
represent his country, crossing through Language Cafés to many others.
